Course Structure
Students in the part-time B.Tech.( Electronics Engineering) programme are
required to complete a number of essential, elective, enrichment modules and
project modules. They must also satisfy all other requirements as prescribed by
the Faculty of Engineering and the
University.
In order to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving landscape of Electronics
Engineering and to upgrade polytechnic graduates into learning engineers, the
B.Tech. degree programme was specially designed to comprise essential modules,
elective modules (both technical and non-technical), enrichment modules, and
projects. The essential modules seek to equip students with a strong foundation
in computing, mathematics, and in engineering fundamentals. The technical
electives provide the breadth and depth in different areas of Electronics
Engineering.
The B.Tech.(Electronics Engineering) curriculum enables students to design a
customized programme comprising a specific set of modules, tailored to meet
their individual interests and career goals. For the first stage of the
programme, students will receive a broad-based training that seeks to establish
a strong foundation in mathematics, sciences, and computing. In the second
stage, students will enrol in core modules that focus on fundamental knowledge
in Electronics Engineering. These core modules provide the essential foundation
for a variety of specialized technical areas.
During their senior years of study, students may specialize in certain fields
of Electronics Engineering through their selection of elective modules. The
elective modules are categorized as breadth or depth elective modules. A
breadth elective module (level 3 module) enables students to achieve a broad
understanding of concepts in the particular concentration. A depth elective
module (level 4 module) is a higher-level module that provides greater depth
and coverage in the particular concentration. Students need to take at least
three or four depth electives to achieve depth.
